Rebellion Code of Conduct
Rebellion events bring together bright minds, breakers, and builders in exclusive, high-energy atmospheres. We seize the day and own the night – but never at the expense of respect or safety. This Code of Conduct applies to all attendees, sponsors, speakers, staff, and volunteers. By attending our events, you agree to help us create a safe, inclusive, and kick-ass experience for everyone. No matter if you're a first-time hacker or a VIP sponsor, the same rules apply. We have few rules, but we enforce them without exception. Keep it fun. Keep it professional. Keep it rebellious.
Code of Conduct Principles
Rebellion is built on mutual respect. Every attendee, sponsor, speaker, and staff member is expected to treat others with professionalism, dignity, and basic human decency. We celebrate diversity of background, identity, experience, and thought — and we do not tolerate behavior that undermines that foundation.
Harassment, discrimination, or abusive conduct of any kind is strictly prohibited. This includes, but is not limited to: offensive or derogatory comments (spoken, written, or online), slurs, intimidation, stalking, deliberate disruption, unwelcome sexual attention, inappropriate physical contact, or any conduct that targets or marginalizes an individual based on personal characteristics such as race, ethnicity, gender identity, sexual orientation, religion, age, disability, or appearance.
If your behavior makes someone feel unsafe, unwelcome, or disrespected, it's a problem — regardless of intent. Being "edgy," joking, or intoxicated is not an excuse. Elitism without respect isn't rebellious; it's disqualifying. Violations of this standard will be addressed immediately and may result in removal from the event without refund.
High-energy events aren't an excuse to ignore personal boundaries. Affirmative, enthusiastic consent is required for any personal or physical interaction. Ask before you touch someone – whether it's a hug, a photo, or getting up close on the dance floor.
- • "No" means no, the first time, every time. If it's not an enthusiastic yes, it's a no.
- • Don't pressure anyone for anything (a drink, a photo, a conversation) if they're not into it.
- • We want everyone to enjoy themselves without feeling uncomfortable or cornered!
We expect all participants to act responsibly, ethically, and with regard for others' well-being.
- • Play by the rules – that means obey all applicable laws, venue rules, and event guidelines.
- • Use common sense: don't start unsafe antics or partake in illegal activities.
- • Even after hours, professionalism isn't optional.
- • Be mindful of your surroundings and fellow attendees; if you see a dangerous situation or someone in distress, alert event staff immediately.
- • Remember, your actions represent you, your company, and the Rebellion community. We're all here to have a good time – not to create problems.
Rebellion is all about innovation, creativity, and pushing the envelope – we encourage it! Feel free to be bold, be weird, and have fun, but never in a way that jeopardizes someone's safety or sense of belonging.
- • Your creative expression or wild ideas must not marginalize, exclude, or endanger others.
- • In other words: push boundaries of tech, not people's personal boundaries.
- • No "pranks" or "edgy" behavior that actually crosses into harassment or danger.
- • Keep the atmosphere inclusive – we can be cutting-edge and crazy while still being kind.
You are 100% responsible for your behavior and its consequences. If you break something, hurt someone, or otherwise cause damage – physical or emotional – own it.
Individuals (including attendees, sponsors, volunteers, and staff) will be held fully accountable for any harm or loss they cause to people, property, or the venue. Neither Rebellion nor the venue is going to clean up your mess. Step up, apologize, fix it, or pay for it – whatever is appropriate. Being part of an exclusive event means taking responsibility for yourself.
Enforcement and Reporting
Warning or Immediate Removal
We may give a direct warning or expel you from the event on the spot for misconduct (with no refund). For serious offenses, you won't just be kicked out – you'll be banned from future Rebellion events as well. No one is exempt from this – not even sponsors or VIPs.
Involving Authorities
If your behavior violates the law or poses a security threat, expect that we will involve venue security or law enforcement as needed. Your status won't shield you from the real-world consequences of illegal actions.
If you experience or witness any behavior that violates this Code (or even suspect something's not right), speak up:
- • Find a Rebellion event staff member on-site (we're there to help)
- • Contact us through the provided channels (e.g. an official event email, which will be advertised at the event)
- • Email conduct@rbln.com
We will handle all reports swiftly and confidentially. We promise to respect your privacy and make every effort to ensure you feel safe. Retaliation against anyone who reports a problem or helps enforce the Code is strictly prohibited – any attempt at retaliation will be treated as a serious violation in itself.
Rebellion events are meant to be unforgettable for all the right reasons – cutting-edge ideas, electrifying energy, and a community that looks out for each other. By following this Code of Conduct, you're helping uphold the values of respect, consent, creativity, and accountability that make our gatherings extraordinary. Thank you for being part of the Rebellion. Now go have a blast – responsibly and respectfully. We've got your back, and we expect you to have each other's. Let's keep the Rebellion safe, inclusive, and legendary.
